چکیده	This research was conducted in order to study the effect of heparin-blood on the growth and survival of medicinal leech Hirudo orientalis. The medicinal leech H. orientalis is used as an important resource in medical research and is now endangered due to the overfishing. It is important to carry out studies that help to reproduce and cultivate the native species. In the present study, 300 medicinal leeches with an average age of one month and an average weight of 0/6±0/02 were divided into two treatment and control groups. Each treatment was kept with 6 repetitions in 1-liter Glass containers for 6 months. Coagulated cow blood was used to feed the control group, and to feed the treatment group, one cc of heparin was added to the blood and it reached a temperature of 37-38 C. The results showed that the weight of the samples in heparin-fed blood was higher than in control, but there was no statistically significant difference. The mortality in the treatment group were significantly higher than the other group (P<0.05).
