چکیده	The explosive economic growth of India and its development from an underdeveloped country to one of the world’s major powers is an important event which occupy the researchers’ and thinkers’ mind in politics and economics. In the political arena, this phenomenon is particularly important because it has been parallel with the reform of India’s foreign policy. So, the aim of the current article is to find an answer to this question that “what is the role of foreign policy in India’s economic development?” The main hypothesis is that “The reform of India’s foreign policy had positive effects on the economic development”. The results of the article show that the change in India’s foreign policy from idealism to realism and liberalism, paved the way for the effectiveness of development considerations on the country’s foreign policy; consequently, India took the path to the economic growth through development-oriented and foreign policy based on a realistic approach.
