The Joule–Thomson coefficient, speed of sound, Isobaric and isochoric heat capacities were calculated for natural gas components, including methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide by using the statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) and its modification, perturbed chain SAFT (PC-SAFT) equations of state. The results have been compared with literature data of natural gas components. For all of the natural gas components, the predictions of the Joule–Thomson coefficient, speed of sound, Isobaric and isochoric heat capacities show good quantitative agreement. Although for the Joule–Thomson coefficient small deviations observed from the experimental at low temperatures. This work not only helps us to predict thermodynamic properties of the natural gas components but also is a step forward for predicting thermodynamic properties of real mixtures of natural gas.
