چکیده	Growth in foreign direct investment is the sign of globalization in the world in the past decade. The average annual growth rate of FDI has been 23 percent since 1986 which is more than international trade. Most international takes place within the OECD areas. However, after economic reforms of 1991 the share of foreign direct investment in developing countries has increased from about 18 percent in 1990 to about 40 percent in 1994. There is a greater flow of foreign direct investment to developing countries than developed countries of the world. Some people are of the opinion that Multinational Firms may prove to be a threat to developing countries by intervening in their developmental programs. But according to some FDI has a potential to economic growth in developing countries. The present paper aims at examining the role of FDI in economic development of countries at global level. This study is based on FDI in countries such as Malaysia, India and Iran.
