The aim of this study was exploring the basic fundamental elements of Impasse Criticism problem in familial arena with focus on anxiety based symptoms, especially ambiguity anxiety in women and men. Research was mainly a survey study performed by using unstructured and semi- structured interview and by use of questionnaire. The participants in the first part of the study (interviews) were 65 persons (47 female and 18 male), and for the second phase (questionnaire) were 319 persons (202 female and 117 male) were selected by using accidental sampling method. The findings show that the spouses who have experience marital dispute show more symptoms of Impasse Criticism. Its symptoms are as follow: confirmation need, controversy problems, sense of rightfulness, nagging, worry, ambiguity anxiety, and problem-solving obsession. Moreover, female show more problems in Impasse Criticism and its all symptoms than men, although one of them-nagging- was not statistically meaningful. However, according to findings, Impasse Criticism and its symptoms, especially ambiguity anxiety, may have an important determinant role in marital perdurable dispute, the problem which with its higher levels in women, might drive men to show some kinds of unacceptable behavior under the pressure of constant IC.
