چکیده Surface modification of activated carbon (AC) is recognized as an attractive approach for enhancement of decolonization of waste water. Acetic acid and phosphoric acid were used to modify a commercially available AC to improve basic blue f) dye (BBf )) adsorption from aqueous solutions in a batch reactor. Synthetic waste water of BB^1 was contacted with plain activated carbon (PAC) and modified activated carbon (MAC). PAC was able to adsorb more than *''/. of BBf "* in .T • minutes, while MAC, can adsorbed more than V-X of BB^. Operational parameters such as pH, adsorbate and acids concentrations were also studied. Significant effect on adsorption was observed in varying the pH of the BB^ solutions. Higher initial solution pH resulted in higher BB^ adsorption. The maximum uptake of BB^ by MAC was achieved at optimized conditions (pH: ^ \ initial concentration of BBn:^ • • mg/L. acetic acid concentration: £.A M and phosphoric acid concentration: f>v M). The results indicate that MAC has higher yield in removal of BB^ from waste water P-
