Quinolines of such category hold diverse applications in medicinal chemistry, being used as anti-bacterial anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, antiasthamatic, and tyrosine kinase inhibiting agents.1,2 Moreover, some other methods and catalysts have been reported for the preparation of HHQs.3,4 In this work, we use Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) as a heterogeneous, highly efficient, and recyclable catalyst for the preparation of hexahydroquinolines via the one-pot multi-component condensation reaction of dimedone (5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione), aryl aldehydes, β-ketoesters and ammonium acetate under solvent-free conditions
