In this paper, nonlinear forced vibration of a multiphase smart curved panel is studied based on the Donnell’s shell theory. By using the multiple time scales method along with Gauss’s laws for electrostatics and magnetostatics, an analytical expression for the effective nonlinearity is obtained and the number of modes needed to be considered in the multi-mode analysis is determined.
