This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different sources of selenium on the blood biochemical parameters and antioxidant response in fat rich diets in Holstein dairy cows. Twelve's Holstein cows with similar BW 892 ± 02kg and milk production means 72 ± 7 kg, were used in a replicated Latin square design. The experiment was conducted in 3 periods of 09 days and 3 treatments including; treatment1 (basal diet containing 022 cottonseed, without selenium supplement), treatment0 (basal diet + 2.3 ppm selenium as sodium selenite) and treatment3 (basal diet + 2.3 ppm organic Selenium as salinized yeast). In the last days of each period, blood samples were collected to determine blood biochemical parameters and antioxidant response. The results of this study showed that adding selenium to the diet did not affect the glucose, blood urinary nitrogen, cratenin, total protein, albumin and globulin concentrations in dairy cows serum (P>1013). However, treatments especially organic form of selenium significantly decreased the concentration of serum fat metabolites' (P<1013) and significantly increased the total antioxidant capacity (P<1011). Overall results showed that supplementation of 103 ppm selenium (specially selenomethionine enriched Saccharomyces cerevisiae) to the diet containing high levels of cottonseed decreased the concentration of serum harmful fat metabolites and contemporaneous increased the total antioxidant capacity in dairy cows plasma. Key words: Dairy Cows- Organic Selenium- Inorganic Selenium- Blood Parameters- Antioxidant Response.
