چکیده This paper reports a study about what are the employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties or what provision exists for vocational opportunities for people with learning difficulties in city in the North of England (Northtown). An eclectic approach, using qualitative and quantitative methods was adopted. The lives of six workers with learning difficulties were studied in order to develop an understanding their employment experiences and perspectives. In addition, 200 case files and documents of employees with learning difficulties were reviewed to obtain some information about employees, such as gender, age, marital status, job title, working hours, wage, type of employer, type of workplace, benefits, domestic circumstances and the accommodation situation. All information was considered and analysed by thematic analysis and using SPSS. The findings of this study covered thirty-nine job titles for 200 adults with learning difficulties. Among thirty-nine job titles, kitchen assistant has the highest percentage (20%), followed by recycling assistant 13%), shop assistant (10.5%), and gardener (5%). The findings show that out of 200 adults with learning difficulties who work in several workplaces 27% are females and 73% are males. In addition, 95.5% are single and 4.5% are married. Out of people who are married most of them have paid employment. The average age of adults is 35 years, the minimum age is 18 and the maximum is 62. The result of the study shows 77.5% are 44 years old or younger. The findings indicate that out of 200 adults, 24.5% work at three segregated workplaces and 75.5% work at several non-segregated workplaces. The situation of adults in non-segregated workplaces is better than in segregated workplaces regarding having paid employment, the receiving benefit and wages. The results show that based on jobcentre definition most adults work full-time and according to the employers most of them work part-time. In addition, the findings show
