Abstract
|
In this paper, the effect of cyclic voltammetry passivation (CVP) on the electrochemical corrosion properties of fine-grained (FG) and coarse-grained (CG) 430 stainless steels was investigated. An advanced thermomechanical process was used for grain refinement. Different electrochemical tests revealed that CVP improved the corrosion properties of both FG and CG samples, however, grain refinement led to deterioration of corrosion and passivation behavior of AISI 430 in 0.1 M NaOH solution. After applying a different number of cycles, FG sample showed less noble free potential, smaller capacitive loops, and higher donor and acceptor densities in comparison to CG one.
