Abstract In the present study, the synthesis and characterization of pyridiniumporphyrazinato oxo-vanadium sulfonic acid nitrate [VO(TPPA(SO3H)4)](NO3)4 as a new nitration reagent, was reported. The reactant discussed in this work can be introduced as an active pseudo-catalyst. The characterization was performed by applying multiple diagnostic methods such as: UV–Vis, FT-IR, TGA-DTA, and ICP. This reagent [VO(TPPA(SO3H)4)](NO3)4 was applied as an excellent reagent with high regioselectivity properties to produce mono nitration of aromatic compounds with good efficacy in a short reaction time. The high selectivity of this methodology for producing monosubstituted products, which it is essential for commercial processes, suggests that it could have potential for industrial applications.
