Title Use of Conductive Polymers in Detection Stage of Analysis/Miniaturization Devices
Type Book
Keywords Conductive Polymers, Detection, Miniaturization, Analytical Chemistry
Abstract Conductive polymers (CPs), also known as synthetic metals , have been the focus of enormous interest in the research community . In recent years , they have been used in myriad applications due to their intrinsic properties , including good electrical conductivity , flexibility , easy preparation , mechanical strength , biocompatibility , and low cost . Today , CPs have many applications in the field of analytical science , such as chemical sensors , biosensors , gas sensors , lab - on - chip devices , and the construction of extraction devices. CP - based sensors mainly fall into three categories : chemical sensors , biosensors , and nanosensors. As smart materials , CPs have high sensitivity to variation in their surroundings . This chapter describes how diverse CPs were employed as active materials for the design and development of sensors . This chapter further reviews the application of CPs in miniaturized analytical devices with a focus on lab-on-a- chip approaches .
