Abstract

Herein, we present a green, efficient and simple synthetic route to the new symmetrical terpyridines by using ammonium acetate (NH4OAc) as catalytically active reagent. Various techniques including Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass analysis have been applied for characterization of synthesized molecules. Moreover, a cooperative vinylogous anomeric-based oxidation pathway is suggested for the aromatization of titled molecules both under air and inert atmospheres.
