Background: Brucella infection in dogs is a neglected zoonosis in many countries especially in Iran. The main goal of this study was to evaluate the seroprevalence of Brucella sp. infection in dogs from Hamedan, West part of Iran. Methods: In a cross-sectional investigation from 2018, 180 blood sample of dogs were taken randomly from different rural regions of Hamedan. All of samples were evaluated of presence antibodies to Brucella infection using Rose Bengal plate test and standard tube agglutination test (wright). Results: Brucella infection was detected in 6 out 180 animals (3.3%; 95% CI: 0.7-5.9%). Seroprevalence rate of infection was reported 3.1% in males, 3.4% in females, 3.2% in <1, 1.8% in 1-2 and 4.9% in >2 age year-old animals. No statistically significant differences was seen between infection rate, gender (χ2=0.013, P=0.907) and age groups (χ2=0.516, P=0.772) of animals. Conclusion: This is the study on Brucella sp. infection in dogs from Hamedan at the first time. Research on B. canis infection in dogs’ population is highly recommended in the region.
