Abstract In this paper, a nanomagnetic catalyst was prepared through coating the Fe3O4 nanoparticle with silica following surface modification of silica using silylating agent and 7-aminonaphtalene-1,3disulfonic acid to gain Fe3O4@SiO2@Propyl-ANDSA.1-3 The obtained catalyst was then analysed by different characterization techniques, including TGA, SEM and TEM images, XRD, and EDX analyses. Afterwards, its catalytic activity was investigated in the one-pot four component synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine derivatives4-6 as the heterogeneous catalyst. A series of 2-amino-3cyanopyridine were obtained from aryl aldehydes, substituted acetophenones, malononitrile and ammonium acetate in good to excellent yieldes by proceeding through a simple, mild and efficient procedure utilizing 7-aminonaphthalene-1,3-disulfonic acid-functionalized magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles Fe3O4@SiO2@Propyl-ANDSA as catalyst under solvent-free condition at 100 oC (scheme 1).
