The subfamily Simognathinae is a cosmopolitan subfamily and is easily recognized by conspicuous features such as spindle-shaped body, spherical gnathosoma, short rostrum, three segmented palp, heavy medial claw on tarsus I and seta like lateral claw. It includes two genera, Simognathus Trouessart, 1889 and Acaromantis Trouessart & Neumann, 1893. The genus, Simognathus The 3rd International Persian Congress of Acarology, 23–25 August 2017 16 comprises 43 species. The highest numbers of this genus is collected from Australia (21). Some mite samples of the genus Simognathus (Acari: Halacaridae) were collected from sea coasts at Chabahar Beach (25°16′ N, 60°40′ E), Darya Bozorg on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. For collecting these mites, algae were taken by hand in the intertidal zone of a rocky shore at 1 m depth and were placed into plastic bags and immediately washed with a 98% ethanol. The solution was filtered through a sieve with a mesh size of 50 μm. Animals retained on the sieve were washed with 70% ethanol and placed into a Petri dish. Mites were picked up from them under a stereomicroscope and were mounted in Hoyer's medium. This is the first record of the subfamily Simognathinae for the Iranian marine mite fauna.
