Abstract

Nowadays many studies have been done on renewable energies to overcome many difficulties of traditional energy consumption. Various kinds of renewable energy sources are available. One of the attractive fields for renewable energy researchers is photovoltaic (PV) systems. To ensure high efficiency of a PV system, numerous algorithms have been developed as maximum power point tracking (MPPT). This paper introduces a novel remote tunable maximum power point tracking (RTMPPT) controller implementation for photovoltaic systems. PV sites' controller which could be located in various regions can be managed or changed by a remote controller site using RTMPPT. The controller site is connected to all PV sites using a typical local area network (LAN) or the Internet. Since RTMPPT periodically updates the controller algorithm of each PV site, the effects of climate changes or seasonal temperature variation will be considered in the controller. Hence the controller is adaptive to variation of temperature and/or irradiation ensuring high efficiency in different climates.
