Title Investigation of the presence of leukocidin genes among methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated from Farshchian hospital of Hamedan city
Type Presentation
Keywords leukocidin, Staphylococcus aureus, nosocomial infections
Abstract Background and Aim : Background: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most bacterium that implicated in nosocomial infections. This pathogen can lead to severe and chronic skin infections. The strains of S. aureus that have an ability to produce leukocidin are most pathogen. These strains can lead to pneumonia and skin infections. The leukocidin member of S. aureus is including PVL, LUKE/D, LUKM and hemolysin3. These leukocidin attacks to variety of human cells and destroys them. Previous studies have shown a significant correlation between ability of leukocidins production and CA-MRSA. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of genes encoding leukocidins among methicillin-resistant S.aureus isolated from skin lesions of patients admitted to Farshchian Hospital, Hamadan city. Methods : Methods: In total 138 samples were collected from skin lesion of patients hospitalized in Farshchian hospital of Hamedan city. Identification of bacteria was done using biochemical (catalase, coagulase and DNase) and molecular (PCR) tests. PCR technique was done for detection of leukocidin encoding genes. Results : Results: S.aureus was isolated from 8.6% of total samples. The prevalence of pvl, lukD/E, lukM, mecA among of total isolates was 41.6%, 58.3%, 58.3% and 66.6% respectively. In other hand the prevalence of pvl, lukD/E and lukM, among MRSA was 50%, 37.5% and 62% respectively. Conclusion : Conclusion: The high percentage of leukocidin encoding genes among S.aureus isolate obtained in this work, suggests, the appropriate diagnosis and treatment should be done regarding to nosocomial infections.
