Title Different types of staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) in Iran
Type Presentation
Keywords Staphylococcus aureus, SCCmec, Iran
Abstract Background and Aim: Staphylococcus aureus is an important pathogen which is asociated with high mortality rates. The prevalence of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become increased in the case of medical and Veterinary. The mecA gene which encoding an altered penicillin binding protein (PBP2a) is is the main mechanism for methicillin resistance. The mecA gene, is carried on a mobile genetic elemen wich called staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec). There are different SCCmec types based on three components included ccr gene complex (ccr), the mec gene complex (mec), and junkyard (J) regions within sccmec. . Until now. eleven SCCmec types (I-XI) have been reported but SCCmec types I-V are more predominant types. Many studies have been done about sccmec typing in Iran and it seems SCCmec types III is the most dominant type in different cities . For example, During the investigation Rezaei and colleagues in 2015, Ebrahimzadeh and and colleagues in 2014, Ghasemian and colleagues in 2015, Imani and colleagues in 2015, Momtaz and colleagues in 2014 and japoni in 2011 was shown that Type III is most common type in contrast to other types. Due to the resistance to more antibiotics located in SCCmec type III, hence this is a potential risk for public health in Iran.
