Abstract Background and Aim: Mental disorders are common in drug abusers. Numerous research have pointed to the comorbidity of substance use and common mental disorders. This relationship in the injection drug users may be a risk factor for deleterious behaviors such as syringe sharing. This purpose of this research was identify the relationship between mental disorders and sharing syringe in injection drug users. Methods: Study method was cross- sectional. Research statistics universe constitutes of all People suffering substance dependence disorder with pattern of injection use in Tehran and Hamedan city. The sample consisted of 307 individual with substance dependence disorder, that selected from harm reduction centers in Tehran and Hamedan city, The sampling selection method was simple random. We used the SCL90-R questionnaire to evaluate mental disorders in injection drug users. Results: In this study 40/85% of injectors had used shared syringe. Results this study indicated that mental disorders in people who had used syringe were more than those who did not share syringe. Conclusion: Therefore, with attention to comorbidity of mental disorders with syringe sharing among injection drug users, we recommend to the experts in prevention and treatment that note seriously to this problem to reduce high-risk behaviors associated with the injection
