According to the Public Relations Office of the Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology (IranDoc), a ceremony was held on Saturday, October 5, 2025, coinciding with the beginning of the 2024–2025 academic year and the 57th anniversary of IranDoc’s establishment, to honor the distinguished and active university representatives in the Similarity Check System. The event was organized as part of “IranDoc Week” to highlight the importance of safeguarding the integrity of the country’s academic system, with the opening day dedicated to the theme of similarity detection and recognition of representatives.
In his address, Dr. Mohammad Hassanzadeh, President of IranDoc, emphasized the long-standing tradition of science in Iran and the prominent role of Iranian scholars worldwide. He highlighted the importance of protecting the purity of the academic system and preventing misuse of scientific outputs, stressing that science today functions as a social system in which similarity detection serves as a key tool to prevent both intentional and unintentional violations of academic principles. Referring to the enactment of the “Law on the Prevention and Confrontation of Academic Misconduct” in 2017 and its executive bylaw, he added that IranDoc has since been designated as the national authority for similarity detection. He further noted that the Similarity Check System has been continuously upgraded and now stands at a level comparable to, if not surpassing, similar international software.
Dr. Hassanzadeh also stated that the performance of university representatives was evaluated based on eight indicators, and recognizing their efforts is a significant step toward enhancing the quality of academic research and reducing the number of retracted papers. Statistics indicate that, owing to this policy, the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology ranks among the top three national institutions in controlling international article retractions.
During the recognition session, active university representatives selected by IranDoc were honored. Among them, Mr. Mojtaba Khodaveisi, representing Bu-Ali Sina University, was recognized as one of the distinguished university representatives nationwide.
