Babesiosis is a key tick born disease caused by the protozoal parasites belonging to the genus Babesia, cosmopolitan in nature and infecting enormous range of large ruminants. Study was intended to determine the presence of local isolates of Babesia species (B. ovis, B. motasi) their molecular characterization in sheep. Blood samples were collected from 50 suspec the specimens were transferred to the laboratory and the blood smears stained with Geimsa. The result confirmed that B. ovis was only species which causes babesiosis in the study areas. It seems that the biometrical polymorphisms could exist in B. ovis in Illam
