Sarcocystosis is a common zoonotic parasite which can be transmitted through ingestion of contaminated, undercooked meat and is a major cause of economic loss in many countries. This study was carried out from March 2012 to February 2015; a total 384000 slaughtered sheep were investigated to macroscopic detection for sarcocystis in Hamadan, Iran. The animals were divided In terms of age and sex, as follows: two categories: male (90%) and female (10%) and under 1 year, up to two years and above two years. The most affected organ are diaphragm (80%), Abdominal cavity (10%), Muscles and Esophagus (10%). The most infection was reported from rural areas such as Vahnan, Hamekee and Simin (90%).The most infected animals were two years old(75%), 1-2 years (20%) and under 1 year (5%) respectively. Present study showed that the rate of sarcocystis infection in slaughtered sheep was high. So evaluation of raw meat quality in addition to apply hygienic programs in all stage of production line is inevitable.
