Abstract

Integration of photovoltaic systems (PVSs) in distribution networks (DN) has some advantages and of course technical problems. Overvoltage is one of the main problems which restricts penetration level of PVSs in DNs. In this paper, using reactive power control (RPC) capability of PVSs, a new control algorithm is proposed to regulate the overvoltage and minimize the loss in DN. Operating voltage range of each PVS is divided into several intervals and proper RPC action is presented for each of them in order to loss minimization and unnormal over voltage prevention. Simulation of a sample test system proves the proper performance of the proposed algorithm.
