A green, simple and lowcost methodwas used for synthesis of nanostructured carbon covered sand (NCCS) from sugar and river sand. The prepared sample was used as adsorbent for water purification. The prepared NCCSwas characterized with scanning electron microscopy energy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), FTIR and X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods.Methyl violet (MV) as a cationic dyewas used for adsorption kinetic and isothermstudies to determine removal performance ofNCCS. The effect of temperature and pH on the adsorption was studied as well.
