In this study, one-pot diastereoselective three-component reaction of urea/thiourea, 2,3-dihydrofuran/3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran with aromatic aldehydes have been developed for synthesis of hexahydrofurano and hexahydropyrano pyrimidinones (thiones) using poly(N-bromo-N-ethyl-benzene-1,3-disulfonamide) [PBBS] and N,N,N',N'-tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide [TBBDA].
