In this study, a one-pot diastereoselective three-component reaction of urea/thiourea, 2,3-dihydrofuran/ 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran with aromatic aldehydes has been developed for synthesis of furano and pyrano pyrimidinones (thiones) using poly(N-bromo-N-ethyl-benzene-1,3-disulfonamide) [PBBS] and N,N,N0 ,N0- tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide [TBBDA].
