In recent years, heightened attention to international law within Iranian courts has become more evident, particularly with an increased focus on Article 9 of the Iranian Civil Code. This article explicitly states that treaties concluded in accordance with the Constitution between the Iranian government and other governments hold the status of law. In addition, encouragingly, there has been a surge in attention to human rights provisions and a more humanistic approach among Iranian judges, reflecting a deepening commitment to the principles and regulations of international law. A noteworthy instance of this evolving judicial perspective is evident in the ruling of the Mazandaran Provincial Court of Appeal dated 1 August 2022, which, considering Article 9 of the Civil Code alongside some instruments of soft law, serves as an exemplar of decisions embodying the essence of human rights.
