Simaria and Vilarinho (2009) considered an ant colony optimisation algorithm for balancing two-sided assembly lines and presented a lower bound for the number of work stations for this problem. In this note, it is shown their proposed lower bound is incorrect. Then, the revised lower bound is presented.
