چکیده

به دلیل بهم ریختگی کلمات فارسی چکیده به صورت انگلیسی درج گردید Today, because of the side effects of artificial preservatives, it is suggested to use natural antimicrobial compounds such as herbal extracts and essential oils. The Artemisia absinthium essential oil has antimicrobial property against pathogenic bacteria. In this study, after preparation of Artemisia absinthium essential oil, antimicrobial activity of different concentrations (10 ppm,100 ppm and 1000 ppm) of this essential oil in comperison with antibiotic discs were evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi and Bacillus cereus by agar disk-diffusion. The essential oil components of Artemisia absinthium were identified by gas chromatography. The results showed that the effective antimicrobial concentration of this essential oil against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi and Bacillus cereus was 1000 ppm. This research showed that antimicrobial effects of chloramphenicol, penicillin and vancomycin against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus were more than Artemisia absinthium essential oil.
