Abstract

Applications ofmultiagentsystems(MAS)inpowerengineeringareofparticularimportance.However, little effortexiststoprovideaninsightinMASapplicationsfromthelensofpowerengineeringpracti- tioners. Thispaperis first inexaminingstateoftheartofMASinpowerengineering.Acomprehensive literaturereviewisconductedandanoveltaxonomyassociatedwithresearchconcerningMASappli- cations inpowerengineeringisproposed.ThepapershowsthatMASisadaptableandapplicablewith different powerengineeringcategories.ThepaperalsoconcludesthattheapplicationsofMASindif- ferent aspectsofmodernpowersystems,likeplanning,market,management,operation,control,mon- itoring andprotectionareanticipatedtobeofsignificance inthedevelopmentsmartgrids.
