Abstract

The member of families Bdellidae and Cunaxidae (Snout mites) are considered predatory and cosmopolitan mites belonging to order Trombidiformes. In this study, the specimens were extracted from soil and litter under some stone fruit trees such as apricot and wild almond, Hamedan region, Hamedan Province, Iran, by using Tullgren funnels during 2014-2015. The mites were directly mounted on microscope slides in Hoyer’s medium. The slides were dried in an oven at about 50 °C and examined under an Olympus BX51 microscope. In this survey, four bdellid and cunaxid species belonging to four genera were collected and identified (all collected specimens determined as new species for mite fauna). The scientific name of species according to taxonomic position are listed as follows: Family Bdellidae Dugès, 1834 Subfamily Bdellinae Grandjean, 1938 Genus Bdella Latreille, 1795 Bdella sp. Subfamily Spinibdellinae Grandjan, 1938 Genus Spinibdella Thor 1930 Spinibdella sp. Family Cunaxidae Thor, 1902 Subfamily Cunaxinae Odemans 1902 Tribe Cunaxini Genus Cunaxa Cunaxa sp. Tribe Pulaeini Genus Pulaeus Den Heyer, 1980 Pulaeus sp.
