Abstract

In order to study fauna of Prostigmata, some soil samples and insect specimens were collected from different parts of Rey County, Tehran province, during March to October, 2016. The insects were captured by a light trap, netting and exploring their habitats (in particular ants and beetles). After transferring into the laboratory, mites were extracted either using Berlese/Tulgren setup or an Olympus stereomicroscope. Mites were cleared in Nesbitt's fluid and mounted on microscope slides using Hoyer’s medium. Overall, 18 species were identified. Species marked with * and ** are new records for the fauna of Iran and science, respectively. The list of identified species are as follows: Caligonellidae: Neognathus terrestris (Summers & Schlinger, 1955), Molothrognathus sp. nov.,٭٭ M. shirazicus Khanjani et al., 2016, Erythraeidae: Erythraeus sp., Eupodidae: Eupodes sp., Neopygmephoridae: Pseudopygmephorus sp., Kerdabania inconspicuus Berlese, 1904, Kerdabania magnifica Khaustov, 2009*, Neothrombiidae: Neosilphitrombium tenbrionidum Saboori, Hajiqanbar & Hakimitabar, 2011, Podapolipidae: Coccipolipus macfarlanei Husband, 1972, Raphignathidae: Raphignathus giselae Meyer & Ueckermann, 1989, R. hecmatanaensis Khanjani & Ueckermann, 2003, R. aciculatus Fan, 2000, Scutacaridae: Pygmodispus lastisternus Paoli, 1911, Tenuipalpidae: Pseudoleptus kermanshahiensis Khanjani et al., 2012, Tetranychidae: Petrobia tunisiae Manson, 1964, Petrobia latens (Müller, 1776), Oligonychus sp., Tydeidae: Tydeus helenipanoue Kazmierski, 1998.
