Abstract

The greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Hem.: Aleyrodidae), is a major pest of rose flowers in the world. Considering the importance of oils in the control of this pest, the comparison of effects oils and pesticides on mortality rate (MR) of this pest on both fixed stages (2nd , 3rd instar and puparium) and adult stage were carried out in a randomized complete block design with 20 treatments and 3 replications on rose plants in greenhouse conditions. Cuttings of rose plants (Rosa hybrida cv.Apollo) were selected. Nine rose plant cuttings were planted in each plot with 1m2 space and 0.5 m distance each plot. So, each treatment had 27 shrubs of rose. The whitefly was collected from the infested greenhouses and after identification of species, was reared on rose plant. Each rose plant with one-year old was infested via 30 fixed stages of the insects. One month after infesting, treatments with electrostatic atomizer backpack sprayer were sprayed on the infested plants. Before spraying, plots were separated by plastic. Whitefly fixed stages from behind of three leaflets that separated from 15, 20 and 25 cm tip of plant were counted one day before and seven days after treatment with stereomicroscope (10 X). In additional, three leaflets from 10 cm of tip of the plants were selected and without picking, number of adult insects were counted with hand loop (2.5 X) one day before and seven days after treatment. Data translated to MR (% of deaths) with Henderson-Tilton method. Treatments contain 0.5 and 1 ml/L of Volk supreme oil (VolkD EC 90 %) alone and mixed to deltamethrin (DecisD EC 2.5 %) 0.5 ml/L; Super oil(EC 80 %) 0.5 ml/L alone and mixed to deltamethrin 0.5 ml/L; CitowettD (alkylaryl polyglycol ether EC 100 %) 0.25 and 0.5 ml/L alone and mixed to deltamethrin 0.5 ml/L; neem seed essential oil (EC 99 %) 0.25, 0.5 and 1 ml/L alone and mixed to deltamethrin 0.5 ml/L; deltamethrin 0.5 ml/L; buprofezin (ApplaudD SC 40 %) 1 ml/L; pyridaben (sanmiteD
