Abstract

Abstract. The sweet-cherry is an important fruit tree economically, providing a valuable and delicious fruit all over the world. In recent years an injurious mite, the Bryobia rubrioculusScheuten (Acari: Tetranychidae) has been populated on the sweet-cherry in the west of Iran, especially in Hamedan province. A biological study on this mite was carried out on five sweet-cherry cultivars (KB9, Lambert, KB21, KB25 and Siah mashad) at (26 ± 0.5) ºC, (L: D) (16:8), and (60 ± 5) RH condition, in the lab of Bu Ali-Sina university, Hamedan Iran in 2013. The results revealed that only two sweet-cherry cultivars, KB9 and KB21, were appropriate to the mite survival. Life-span development was 17.93 and 18.32 days, gross fecundity rate 9.59 and 13.89 eggs, and rm calculated 0.027 and 0.012 day-1 respectively. Some biological parameters of the mite had a correlation with physiological aspects of the sweet-cherry. These findings provide important information on integrate pest management of this mite.
