Abstract

The Brown mite, Bryobia rubrioculusScheuten, is considered to the family Tetranychidae and distributed in sour cherry, sweet cherry, plum and apple orchards in Hamedan region. In this study almost 30 types of ornamental plants of Bu–Ali Sina university campus were investigated, during 2013–2014. This pest, as the first record from Western Iran, was collected on leaves of Japanese quince, Chaenomeles japonica (Thunb.) Lindl. ex. Spach (Rosaceae) by biting aerial parts on white tray. The mites had high potential for feeding on leaves (mid-April to late May) and almost all parts of leaves covered with bronze spotted. This matter is important because this host is one ofthe widespread ornamental plants in green spaces and it is necessary to consider in integrated pest management (IPM) plans
