چکیده

Due to the contemporary cities’ need to the construction of long buildings as tourist and economic attractions in urban places, on the one hand, and also the necessity to preserve the cities’ traditional texture as a historical heritage and skyline related to the sceneries surrounding cities, on the other hand, the cities require some regulations to prioritize and organize such constructions and their influence on cities’ skylines. The current article seeks to recognize the more beautiful skyline based on people’s opinion. Accordingly, the skylines are generally divided into threecategories including the nature’s skyline, contemporary city texture’s skyline, and ancient city texture’s skyline. Specifically, a sample of these three categories of images in Kermanshah city were provided, and through asking some questions of 360 Kermanshah people, the article sought to find an answer to the questions that: the what are the formal and visual features of the skyline selected by the people? The study findings indicate that the people preferred the nature’s skyline and ancient city texture’s skyline over contemporary city texture’s skyline.Based on the results, the people who selected the image group relevant to the contemporary city texture’s skyline mostly believed that such image group have some features such as more naturalness (consistency with the nature), discreteness and wideness, more flexibility and coherence, and also mild broken lines. In contrast, other people that selected other image groups mostly though that the images relevant to the contemporary city texture’s skyline are highly artificial (inconsistent with the nature), severe broken lines, totally closed and entangled, and with excessive abrupt shifts, and relatively irregular.
