Rare example of a porphyroblast turned porphyroclast from the Hamedan area in the northwestern part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran. The image shows a chiastolitic andalusite crystal that developed into a d-type structure in a dextral shear zone. The graphite aggregates outside the andalusite crustal developed into wings around the andalusite core. Polycrystalline smoky quartz are grew in the strain shadow at the lower left of the andalusite crystal. This shear sense indicator is coherent with other shear sense criteria such as S-C fabric in this area. Location 343203100N, 484305500E.
