The ternary water + acetone + 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (HMIMPF6) system was studied at different temperatures of (293.2, 298.2 and 303.2) K and under atmospheric pressure. Extraction capability of HMIMPF6 solvent was evaluated with respect to distribution coefficient and separation factor, confirming the solvent capability for the extraction. The relative solubility of acetone in the ionic liquid is higher than in queous phase. Meanwhile, low temperature is prefered for both the solute distribution coefficient and separation factor parameters due to decrease in water and the ionic liquid miscibility.
