We study amenability and approximate amenability of `1-Munn algebras over Banach algebras. We then show that the `1-Munn algebra LMI (A) over a unital Banach algebra A is approximately amenable if and only if A is approximately amenable and I is nite. Applications to semi- group algebras are given.
