Abstract

Background and Aim: Leishmaniasis has several diverse clinical manifestations: ulcerative skin lesions, destructive mucosal inflammation, and disseminated visceral infection (kala azar). In some cases, the cutaneous disorder is self-limited. Examining the status of these cases can be important in expanding the information of this disease. Methods: The specific primers were designed for pro-inflammatory genes including IL-1α, IL- 1β , IL-12P35, IL-12P40, TNF-α and IFN- γ. Expression of these genes was analyzed using by RT-PCR the wound and spleen in Leishmania infected BALB/c mice. Results: Pro-inflammatory genes, including TNF-α, IL-12P35 were expressed in mice infected wounds, and also IL-1β were expressed in the spleen. Conclusion: Investigating the Inflammatory cytokines in self-limited Leishmaniasis is important to diagnosis and may be considered as indication in the notice of the inflammatory response in the wound is self-limiting and appropriate additional studies.
