The synthesis and the coordinating ability of macrocyclic Schiff-base ligands have been the goal ofmuch research in recent years, owing to the peculiar properties of related complexes which have been applied in bioinorganic chemistry, material science, catalysis, separation and incapsulation processes, etc [1,2]. In the present work, a new potentially tetradentate (N4) macrocyclic Schiff-base ligandwas prepared from the reaction of 1,4-bis(2-formylphenyl)hompiperazine and 1,4-butadiamine. All of compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, Mass and in the case of Zn(II) complex by 1H and 13C NMR.The crystal structure of Co(II)complex was reported and showed that the complex contains Co(II) in a distorted pentagonal pyramidal geometry with a N4Cl core
