The so ft rot di seases causing bacteria, are very important plant pathogenic agents and ubiquitous bacteri a which diminish quality and quantity of both agricultural and horticultural plants. These group of bacteria are not specific to plant hosts, they produce pectolytic enzymes which damage fleshy fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants and some other agricultural crops, especially in storage. Characterization of phenotypic features and genotypic diversity determination of pectolytic erwinias is very important to implement effecti ve diseases control. During 2012 to 2013 a total of 35 bacterial isolates of soft rot pectobacteria fro m different hosts including: potato, cabbage, bell pepper, eggplant and carrot were co ll ected in some areas of east and west Azarbaijan provinces. Phenotypic and physiologic features, pathogenicit y, electrophoretic pattern of soluble cell protei ns of the isolates were characterized. Also, genotypic diversity and DNA fingerpri nts of the isolates were determined by REP-PCR using BOX AI R and ERIC primers. According to the results, tested bacterial strains were belongs to Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum, P. c. subsp. odoriferum and P. wasabiae. Total cell protein electrophoretic pattern of the isolates was di verse and they were very variable according to the characte ri zed features
