This researchworkisconcernedwithcreationofZK60Mgsheetsbyvariouscombinationsofthere- peated upsetting(RU)andforwardextrusion(Ex)operations.TheRUprocesswasconductedwithdif- ferent passesandat250 °C, whereasthesubsequentforwardextrusionwasperformedat220 °C. Complementary tensileteststogetherwithfractography,andmicrostructuralandtexturalstudieswere carried outinordertoinvestigatetheinfluence oftheprocesstypesandconditionsonthematerial properties ofthesheetproducts.ItwasfoundthatcombinationoftheRUandExoperationscouldresult in ductileZK60sheetswithimprovedstrengthandstrainhardeningcapacity.Themaximumelongation wasachievedafter3passesofRUfollowedbyExprocess.Thisprocessingroutealsoresultedinbalanced ultimate strengthsinbothextrusionandtransversedirectionswithalmostthehigheststrainhardening capacity.TheeffectsofRUnumberofpassesandforwardextrusionprocessonthemicrostructures, textures,mechanicalpropertiesandthefractureoftheZK60sheetswerealsoinvestigatedand,basedon the experimental findings obtained;severalimportantconclusionsweredrawnandexplainedinthis article.
