Abstract

In this paper, we achieve two important goals. First, we have developed an efficient electrocatalytic oxidation method using a nanostructured graphite/fluorine doped β-PbO2 electrode to remove difficult-to-oxidize dibenzoazepine drugs (imipramine, desipramine and clomipramine). The prepared electrode has a wide electrochemical potential window, high removal percentage and ability to operate under ambient conditions. The experimental results show that the proposed method for the mineralization of dibenzoazepine drugs has high removal percentage, so that the average removal percentage of these drugs is 95%. The second goal of this paper is to study the electrochemical behavior of dibenzoazepine drugs in aqueous solutions with different pH values to propose comprehensive mechanisms for the electrooxidation and mineralization of imipramine on the GC and G/F-PbO2 electrodes, respectively.
