Different behaviours of catechol, 3-methylcatechol, 3-methoxycatechol, 3,4-dihydroxybenz- aldehyde and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid were studied in the presence of 2,3-diaminonaphthalene in the phosphate buffer/acetonitrile solution at room temperature.
