Electrochemical and chemical syntheses of benzodiazepinediones were carried out from the reaction of catechols with N,N0-dialkylproylenediamine in aqueous solution at room temperature, using CV and controlled-potential coulometry with K3Fe(CN)6 as an oxidant.
