Abstract

In February 2014, a small team of Iranian and Kurdistan archaeologists carried out a Salvage excavation in Soran district Kurdistan, this paper presents the results of the first stage of our archaeological field research in Gal-e-Ali Bag. Kurdistan holds a pre-eminent position in Mesopotamia’s archaeological heritage. It was also the home of the various prehistoric important sites. The construction of the road leading onto and off the site, and the cutting of a large slice of the site. Obtaining a stratigraphically-controlled ceramic sequence for the Ali Bag tow test trenches were excavated at the site. The excavation at Gal-e-Ali Bag was also significant for providing the first evidence of the prehistoric societies and peoples of the region. The archaeological remains recovered from Ali Bag have provided important new evidence for the discussion of the prehistory and modern period of Kurdistan. The earliest deposits from Trench A, incorporating of Neolithic period occupation, represent a unique archaeological sequence within north Mesopotamia.
