Abstract

Today, the development of fast and reliable methods for providing quantitative information is an ongoing need in analytical chemistry. Taking advantage of both nanoscale size and magnetic manipulability, magnetic nanomaterials (MNMs) have found a wide range of applications in different fields from chemistry to biomedicine. MNMs also have been utilized as plasmonic sensors. Nanoplasmonic-based assay techniques mainly fall into three categories: surface plasmon resonance, localized surface plasmon resonance, and surface-enhanced Raman scattering. By far, various plasmonic materials have been used in analytical chemistry for the construction of plasmonic sensors. Furthermore, various measurement strategies also have been developed. However, the use of MNMs for the construction of plasmonic nanosensors has been less investigated. Therefore this chapter reviews the recent applications of MNMs in plasmonic nanosensors.
